Kimball Longhorns trap team members and a travel partner from Potter-Dix are competing this week at Nationals in Mason, Mich. The Kimball Longhorns trap team state results have been calculated, and awards for the top three individuals in varsity male, junior varsity male and female, and novice male and female have been announced. The annual Wyoming-Nebraska 6-Man Shoot Out All-Star game was played on Friday in Chadron, and the Wyoming squad was able to outlast the Nebraska team in the highest scoring contest of the 11-game series. Potter-Dix’s Thomas Muldoon was a defensive standout during the game, recording many tackles and pass disruptions. He also was used on kickoffs and as a receiver. Potter-Dix’s Coyote track and field team traveled to Burke stadium in Omaha late last week to compete in the NSAA State Championship Meet. Seven seniors received their high school diplomas in the ceremony. Numerous scholarships were handed, but the big winners were Thomas Muldoon receiving Regent Scholarships to UN-K and UN-L and a Chancellor's Scholarship to UN-O. Ronald "Ron" Harms, 62, passed away April 27, 2022, following a valiant six-year battle with metastatic prostate cancer. On June 7, 1959, Ron was born in Kimball, Nebraska, to Elwood and Donna (Moench) Harms. He grew up in Dix, Nebraska, graduating Dix High School in 1977. He then worked in cabinetry shops in Colorado, and Maas Farming in Potter, Nebraska. The Potter-Dix Coyote Track and Field teams had a busy week, competing at the Storm Twilight Meet at Creek Valley High School on Tuesday and the Kendra Roeder Invitational at Pine Bluffs High School. Coaches have been selected for the 2022 West Nebraska All-Star Football Game – among them Potter-Dix’s Dale Frerichs. This marks the 44th year for the game. Kimball Street Superintendent Jim Shoup asked the City Council to change the speed limit on south Chestnut Street at the March council meeting. The change will occur from FVC to Sixth Street. The speed limit will be 35 mph, which is a decrease of 5 mph. From Sixth Street to Fourth Street, the speed limit will be 30 mph, and from Fourth Street to the stoplight, the speed limit will be 25 mph. A trip to State for the Potter-Dix Speech Team resulted in the title of 2022 D2 State Runners-Up.
