    The Kimball City Council members met with a packed house on Tuesday, July 19. The crowd patiently waited for the reason they came- – discussion and consideration of noise ordinance #806, which was two-thirds through the agenda.     It's a family affair. The Coleman family – dad Mike, mom Jenn, and children Anna, 14, Sophie, 13, and Luke, 7 – have an unusual hobby and business of raising and selling ball pythons. The ball python is a constrictor snake, but he/she has no venom. When you mention the snakes, everyone in the family gets a little gleam in their eyes and a grin on their faces.     Kimball's proposed noise ordinance was a major focus of the City Council's July 19 meeting, but other important issues were addressed. Two agenda requests from council members were addressed early in the meeting. Christy Warner asked for an updated comprehensive plan and blight study. The previous one was done in 2016, but is still effective. The staff was directed to investigate a new comprehensive study and blight plan with bids for the cost.   • YARD OF THE WEEK

    The yard of Carl Stander at 702 Burg Street was award Kimball's Yard of the Week. In the front yard is a large flower bed which was landscaped about five years ago when a large tree had to be removed from the area. The flower bed now has day and tiger lilies, along with ornamental grass and chickens and hens. The focus point of the flower garden is a large slice of the tree stump that was removed and now sports a large red N. The south side has a beautiful field of four o'clock flowers....

  • Texans Sort Things Out At Fairgrounds

    Last weekend, Halligan Agency held the Little Daddy Ranch Sorting at the Kimball-Banner County Fairgrounds. The two-day event, held in advance of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Big Daddy Ranch Sorting event, boasted 362 first round teams and 180 second round teams. According to event organizer Cody Halligan, "It was a lot, a lot of work." While local riders were not in abundance, Texas had the most sorters.     Frank C. Forsyth, 88, of Dix, died at the Kimball County Manor on Friday, July 22, 2022. Funeral services were planned for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Warren Cico officiating.     The Kimball cheer team competed in a camp in Fort Collins, Colo., from July 8-10 – and the squad came home with some top hardware. The Colorado State University cheerleaders put on the camp and judged the event. Coach Carrie Tabor said the Longhorns "had a great time."     Kimball High School junior Julia Winstrom finished her third air rifle compeition this summer. On July 21-23, Julia completed in the 2022 American Legion 3-Position Junior Air Rifle Championship at the USA Shooting range facility in Colorado Spring, Colo. After two days of shooting and continuous scoring, Julia was sitting seventh and made the finals for the next day. On Saturday she climbed her way into sixth place for the finals....
