  • City Conducts Routine Disinfection Of Water Storage

    The City of Kimball announced Tuesday, Aug. 26, that its water department would be doing routine disinfection that day of the water storage tank. Due to the process, there may be some chlorine residual in customers’ water that last about a week, the city said. The water will be safe to use for drinking, cooking and cleaning as usual.     The city of Kimball has announced that the grant and loan program that has helped jump-start a string of ambitious business projects in recent months, such as those at the Sagebrush and Longhorn Building for starters, is temporaritly on hold.     A group known as the Maple 50 Team with AmeriCorps NCCC will be arriving in Kimball County on Thursday, July 30, and begin with two days of orientation/training before moving on to give the area some considerable help.     The City of Kimball issued a statement Monday for its street department to inform citizens of Kimball and surrounding areas that there will be a complete closure at the intersection of 3rd Street and Chestnut Street, effective right now, to allow for waterline work for the new Kimball County Transit Service building at the corner.     Waterline installation for the new Kimball County Transit Service Building will cause a detour for drivers in the near future.     Potter-Dix and Banner County FFA members were among those attending the recent FFA district meet in Kimball. More than 320 FFA students attended. Students visited from schools across the region. Meanwhile, this past week, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the Kimball FFA as it has so many others locally – forcing postponement of the Kimball FFA Alumni and Supporters dinner and article auction and labor auction.     The story of two Air Force airmen who helped fight a fire that forced a Dix family from its home last Thursday night has spread far and wide on traditional and social media.
