Kimball Candidates Filing; Deadline March 2

The deadline for throwing your name in the hat for school board or other public offices is quickly approaching.

According to Kimball County Clerk Cathy Sibal, 5 p.m. Monday, March 2, is the deadline for non-incumbents to file for offices.

Current office holders had to file by Feb. 18. Incumbents filing for the Kimball school board are Carrie Tabor and Heather Norberg. Incumbent Kim Baliman filed for Kimball City Council and Robert Dunkin filed for the airport authority board.

Non-incumbents who did not wait for any deadline to approach are school board hopeful Lauren Perry and Carl Standard for county commissioner.

The following incumbents did not file for another term: Clint Cornils (school board), James Shields (city council), Matthew Shoup (airport authority) and Daria Anderson-Faden (county commissioner).

In order to vote in the May 12 primary, individuals need to register to vote at the county clerk’s office by May 1 or online by April 27 with the Secretary of State Office or DMV.

In presidential election news, the Secretary of State for Nebraska has determined who will be on the May 12 primary ballot:

Republican Party: Donald J. Trump and Bill Weld.

Democratic Party: Joseph R. Biden, Michael R. Bloomberg, Pete Buttigieg, Tulsi Gabbard, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders, Tom Steyer and Elizabeth Warren.

Libertarian Party: Max Abramson, Daniel Behrman, Lincoln Chafee, Jacob Hornberger, Jo Jorgensen and Adam Kokesh.
