Lots of Events, Easter And Otherwise, In The Works This Week

Banner County

Good morning! Man, has the month of March flown by or what? This week goes out the door with Easter this Sunday, and I think it is out like a lamb with about 60 degrees predicted with clouds.

So we know the real reason for the season, but we are also aware of several Easter egg hunts surrounding our area. We will get to those here shortly, but first today is March 28th and there is high school track at Bayard, the Honor Society Induction at the school at 5 p.m., and the JAG students in Lincoln for Legistative Day. Lakota Language Classes will also be this evening at the Scottsbluff high school at 6 p.m.

In Mitchell at the Scotts Bluff County Fairgrounds, a three day event will include Harmony Dog Sports Fast Cat event and the Scottsbluff Kennel Club’s annual show. More details are at http://www.scottsbluffkc.org.

Riverstone Bank will hold the annual Hoops for Heroes dinner at the Gering Civic Center with doors opening at 5 p.m. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Among the activities will be the NCAA basketball tournament on TV, a DJ, hero hoop shooting, 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction. This benefit is for Northfield Haven.

There will be NO School! March 29-April 1st in observance of Easter.

However, on the 29th & the 30th there will be Easter Egg weekend egg hunting at the Riverside Discovery Center, two times, 11 a.m. & 2 p.m.

Grace Chapel will have a Passover banquet at 6 p.m. on the 29th and a Community Easter egg hunt the next morning at 10 a.m. Their location is 300 Valley View Drive, Scottsbluff.

Also on the 30th, Saturday, the Zion Evangelical Church will have eggs to hunt at 1 p.m. They are located at 3617 5th Ave. in Scottsbluff.

There are eggs hunts everywhere – Kimball and Bushnell in Nebraska (see page A2) and Lingle and Torrington in Wyoming. Busy rabbit.

Here awhile back I was told that someone had some white domesticated rabbits running all over town. Well. I am here to tell you I saw the biggest white rabbit about a week ago. As I was going through town I saw him climbing that big pile of dirt south of the post office. Exercise in preparation for all of the egg hunts? Just wondering.

On Saturday morning, the Winter Farmers Market will be at the Legacy of the Plains Museum between 10 a.m. and 1 p..m. and I think this is the last one for this season.

The Buckboard Therapeutic Riding Academy will host a Pancake Feed & Rifle Raffle to celebrate 14 years of service. This will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 1719 1st avenue in Scottsbluff. They will be there between 7-11 a.m. So breakfast before eggs hunts, right? More information is available by calling either 672-6313 or 765-9603.

On Easter Sunday, many Easter services will be taking place and also at the Northfield Church in Scottsbluff there will be a special Easter Musical event between 10:30 a.m. and noon. The local FFA Boosters are inviting you to join them, by contacting Nancy Olsen at 631-0911 before April 1st.

The FFA kids will be in Lincoln for the state convention from the 3rd through the 5th.

The high school track team will have meets in Creek Valley on the 2nd at 9 a.m. and on the 3rd at Leyton, no time available. Safe travel to all of you throughout the week and good luck.

Happy Easter!

Take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
