Hardin, Patrol To Hold Meeting At Banner School

Good morning and happy Windy month of March! Nice kite weather if anyone does that anymore.

Before we start the weekend, today, March 7, is the beginning of a Lakota language learning class that will be taught at the Scottsbluff High School. Beverly Running Bear from Black Hills State University will be teaching the classes through the 13th of March at 6 p.m.

Friday, March 8th is an eventful day with a lot going on.

There will be no school at Banner County School.

State Sen. Brian Hardin and the Nebraska State Patrol will hold a meeting in the Kimball County Transit Building, 233 S Chestnut at 10 a.m. to discuss and share update information on the Nebraska Fusion Center – a Homeland Security enterprise owned and operated by the state. Its main function is to keep clear communication between all components of public safety and security.

They also will meet at the Banner County School at 1 p.m.

St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff will hold a Fish Fry on the 8th from 5 to-7 p.m. and everyone is welcome.

The folks out at the Legacy of the Plains Museum will hold their annual Bandana Ball that evening at the Gering Civic Center. The doors will open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30. There will be silent and live auctions among the entertainment.

On Saturday March 9th, the Family Nature Club will meet at the Scotts Bluff National Monument from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for fun with feathered friends.

That evening the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department will have a Chili Feed at the fire hall from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone is invited.

With the weather conditions being perfectly right for fires, we have already seen local teams in action over this past week. Thank you to all area volunteers for all that you do.

On Sunday afternoon, the Midwest Theater will roll out the red carpet as it hosts an Oscar Night Watch Party and Red Carpet Fundraising event between 5 and 8 p.m. The doors will open at 4 p.m.

On Monday, March 11th, the speech team will head to Scottsbluff and WNCC for district competition that will begin at 9 a.m.

On Wednesday the 13th, the junior high Quiz Bowl competitors will be headed to Kimball. Safe travel and good luck to all of you.
