Lamb Or Lion? What Do You Think?

Banner County

Good morning! Well after today February is a thing of the past.

This past week has been filled with spring and winter days buffeted by winds with speeds up to 40 miles an hour. So the expected wind of 18 miles per hour for March 1st seems pretty mild, bringing the question of lamb or lion? What do you all think?

Winter sports continue to wind down with great year end finishes for both speech and boys varsity basketball.

On March 1st, Friday, the annual FFA silent auction will take place at 5:30 p.m. I hear that the FFA group had quite a display of critters in the shop last week. Everything from a snake to a horse and some babies in between!

Also on the 1st at the Weborg 21 Centre in Gering, the Soroptimists of Scotts Bluff County will host the event “Trivia, Tapes, and Treasure.” The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the games will begin at 6:30 p.m. More information is available at [email protected]. Players must be 16 years of age or older.

Lucas Bohn will give a live performance at the Midwest on March 1st at 7 p.m. Mr Bohn is a former teacher turned comedian and the first thing that comes to my mind is Art Linkletter and “Kids Say the Darndest Things.” I have never seen him, so who knows? I just think his past teaching experience would probably provide some funny material.

Saturday, March 2nd, the Winter Farmers Market is at the Legacy of the Plains Museum between 10 a.m and 1 p.m. and folks at the West Nebraska Regional Airport will have an event hosted by the EAA chapter 608, “Planes, Cars, and Coffee.” Planes and cars will be on display between 7 and 10 a.m. and others between 9 a.m and noon.

There will be an open house at the Western Nebraska Arts Center on that date from 1-5 p.m. This is open to the public and free. The Main Gallery will feature an Artful Jewelry and Accessories Boutique Market, which will be available through March 29. I have seen an example of what will be there and it was beautiful.

The movie of the weekend at the Midwest will begin at 1:30 p.m. and show again at 7 p.m. and is “The Boy and the Heron.”

Animated I believe, and showing also on the 3rd at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday evening, March 2nd will bring the 34th annual Oregon Trail Pheasants Forever Banquet. It will be held at the Gering Civic Center with the doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and dinner being served at 7 p.m. Ticket information is available at (308) 765-3900, 765-9384, or 765-5270.

Also in Torrington on that same evening at the Goshen County fairgrounds, “Haven On The Rock Gun Bingo and Dinner” will take place at 5 p.m.

Back at the school house on the 6th, the FFA students involved in the CDE contest will head to Kimball for district competition. Good luck and safe travel.

There will be no school on March 8th – just as a heads up!

Well that is all for now, so have a great week and take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
