Good morning! Lovin' Nebraska with flashes of near 60 degrees one day and 6 inches of snow the next!!

This last blast of winter brought some pretty good moisture though, so that was appreciated. Interesting to see what the rest of the month will bring us.

Here today, midway through February, the 15th, there is a Homeschool program out at the Wildcat Hills recreation area beginning at 10 a.m., and here at school there is an early OUT. Students will head home early for parent-teacher conferences.

This is also the first day of state wrestling competition in Omaha. This will continue through the 17th. and we have one wrestler competing. Good luck, Wyatt!

Wyatt Reichenberg took home 1st place in the 195 pound division at the Class D-4 District Tournament.

There will be No School on Friday, the 16th however the speech team will be in competition in Gering, and in Ogallala the following day.

Many state and federal offices will be closed Feb. 19 because it is Presidents Day.

Here at the schoolhouse, the students will have another day off giving them a four day weekend. Staff will have some in service education, however, and the boys varsity basketball team will be involved in the NSAA competition, which will carry over into Tuesday the 20th. Times are to be announced, so please call the school if you need that information at 436-5262.

We recently lost two ladies with many generations of ties with Banner County. We are sorry to hear of the passing of Janice Anderson and Robin Hottell. Our sincere sympathy to the families of these ladies.

Their obituaries appear on Page A6 of this week's Observer.

Here is a heads- up! Coming soon is the annual Duck's Unlimited Banquet on February 24th.

All for now. Safe travel and good luck to all sports participants, along with staff and parents over this next week.

Take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
