    The Kimball County Commissioners heard from Kimball Health Services about its affiliation agreements at a lengthy meeting held Nov. 18.     Raymond Little (Ray) of Kimball spent most of his growing-up years in Fort Collins, Colo. He was a scrappy kid, whose household could have been a little warmer. When he was 17, he had quit high school. His mother sent him to the Post Office in Fort Collins and Ray was soon taken by a recruiting poster.     Necessity is the mother of invention, and it also led to a wider viewing of Kimball High School's One-Act Play this fall. A larger than normal group of students out for the school's One-Act Play made it necessary to raise more funds this year, said sponsor Jennifer Dillinger.     The Kimball city council received an update on the event center roof at its Nov. 18 meeting. After the meeting was called to order the current business included Keno grant applications from both the chamber of commerce as well as Shop with a Cop.   • Unemployment rate improves locally

    The unemployment rate for both Kimball and Banner counties improved from September to October, the Nebraska Department of Labor announced in numbers released last Friday. The October unemployment rate for Kimball County was 2.6 percent, a slight improvement from 3.0 percent in September. The rate is also lower than a year ago, when Kimball County had a 3.4 percent unemployment rate in October 2013. In Kimball County for October, there were 1,911 employed out of 1,962 in the labor force. That left just 51 unemployed who would have like to have b...

    Harry Burback, 88, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Alan Foutz officiating. Burial was held in the Kimball Cemetery.   • SPNRD, Pheasants Forever join forces on Oliver Reservoir project

    At the November meeting the South Platte Natural Resources District, the board of directors approved the use of a half-acre plot at Oliver Reservoir Recreation Area for an outreach program to be undertaken by the Mile High Pheasants Forever chapter. The program includes participation by Kimball elementary students, who will help plant pollinators while learning about their importance in nature.     Five Potter-Dix volleyball players and two from Banner County were named to the Minuteman Activities Association All-Conference team. Regyn Hicks and Dawson Sharman of Potter-Dix were each named first team all-conference. Hicks led the team with 227 kills, 108 blocks and 46 aces in 2014. She also led the way with 412 digs and was second on the team with 243 assists. Sharman was third on the team with 156 kills, and added 29 aces and 17 blocks for the Lady Coyotes.
