Coyote Trap Club On Target

Potter-Dix’s Trap Shooting Club as been in full swing since March, with their Friday competitions improving the scores of their members every week. Competing in the U.S.A. Clay Target League of junior and senior high students, the 13 members of the Coyote team shoot every Friday and enter their scores weekly.

“This is a very laid back activity where the kids can relax, shoot and improve without any pressure. Most of these kids are loaded up with pretty intense sports and activities through the year, so this gives some something fun to unwind with and keep them sharp,” said Brad Brothers, Trap Club advisor. The Potter-Dix team has some standout shooters like Dawson Monheiser who placed second in the State Varsity competition and Kinnzie Shoemaker who is a top 5 shooter in the state of Nebraska.

The club has varsity affiliation with the High School, meaning the students can earn letters for their participation. Besides sharpening their shooting skills, the members are well-trained in gun safety and proper shooting etiquette. The season lasts for 9 weeks, and at the end the members see if they qualify for the State Tournament.
