Season Of Giving, Celebrating In Full Swing

Banner County

Well good morning. Here is hoping that you have fared well over this past week with all of the cold.

We are fast approaching the Christmas season and one of the current projects is a toy/clothes drive for the family of Dylan Charvat, who died in an accident at the Sugar Factory Terminal on November 8th. To help, please call 308-631-4627 or email [email protected] or 308-225-1594 or [email protected] for sizes and genders for the kids and their mom. Today, the 15th, is the last day, so please don’t delay!

Also on the 15th, there will be a Book Signing and Meet & Greet at the Leid Library between 1-3 p.m. for the book “Nebraska Sweet Beets: A History of Sugar Valley” by author Lawrence Gibbs.

Also at the Leid on the 17th, the Board Game Club will meet between noon and 4:30 p.m. You are invited to join them and just play around!

The Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff will host a Christmas Sing-A-Long on Sunday, December 18th at 2 p.m. They will entertain you with the Presbyterian Hand Bells and Chancel Choir, the Four Piano Ensemble, vocal duets and more. They are located at 101 20th Street.

That same evening the Rock Church will host Dessert & Comedy Night at the Weborg 21 Center. They will have two comedians, Shama and Jaran Myers. Both are well followed on tic tok and elsewhere. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. and for more information please call 308-632-6845 or e-mail therockne.com.

The Midwest Theatre on Dec. 17 will offer a Free movie at 1:30 p.m., an “Arthur Christmas,” and on Sunday the 18th they will show another Free movie, “Holiday Inn,” at 1:30 p.m.

The Riverstone Bank will present: “Wild Lights” out at the Riverside Discovery Center. They are open from 5-7 p.m. on December 16, 17 & 18th.

Here at home, after a busy week last week, we are winding down and getting ready for Christmas break.

Sports activities include: the junior high boys basketball team traveling to South Platte on the 15th for game time at 1 p.m., high school boys basketball at home verses Potter-Dix on the 16th with game time at 4:30 p.m., high school wrestling at Sutherland on the 17th at 10 a.m., and girls basketball at Arthur County at 2 p.m. The high school girls basketball tournament will be in Sioux County on the 19th & 20th. Game time the first night is 3:30 p.m.

Safe travel and good luck to all of you.

The Dinner Theater will be on Thursday, December 15th at 6 p.m. The play is titled “Mrs. Patterson’s $5,000.00 Dog Is Dead,” a comedy.

The piano/violin concert held at the Harrisburg Community Church last Saturday evening was well attended. I have to say that Heidi and Kevin Cheng are extremely talented young people who we were very fortunate to hear perform.

There will be a special Christmas Eve service at the Harrisburg Community Church on the 24th at 6 p.m. and Church services Christmas morning at 11 a.m. – no Sunday school classes that day.

Here is wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful, healthy New Year. Be safe and take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
