Hotter Than A Hootchie-Cootchie

Banner County

Good morning, sure is hotter than a hootchie-cootchie, right?! Take care out there.

Tonight, July 21st, Bands on Broadway are at the 18th Street Plaza from 6-9 p.m., and in Chadron Bands on Bordeaux will be there at the same time frame at Railroad Park.

Tomorrow there will be another presentation of the "Emigrant Experience" out at the Scottsbluff National Monument. The ranger will be on hand from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Not long ago we had the pleasure of taking our grandson on a hike down the Monument, along with his friend who had never left the state of Nevada. Quite an experience for her!

The Theater West Summer Repertory TOFY Performance will be on both July 23rd and 24th at 2.p.m. at the Judy Chaloupka Theater, WNCC. The performance will be "Little Mermaid Jr." If you need more information please call 635-3192.

The evening of the 23rd will see the local band the Green Valley Homesteaders playing at the Pollinator Palooza, at the greenhouse just east of the Gering Armory. They will be unveiling the pollinator garden art that has been created by local artists and will be open from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. For more information, please go to http://www.aplos.com/aws/events/pollinator-palooza.

If you are wondering what a "palooza" is, or if I just made that up ... well, I looked it up because I was wondering the same thing. Here is what I found about palooza: "A wild, crazy, and extravagant party!" Well, whoo-hoo! Music, art and plants, what more could you ask for?

Farmers Markets on are the horizon and Morrill will start having theirs every Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. and every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will be located at the Fo Mo Park on the west side of Morrill off of hwy. 26.

For you SkyView drive-In fans, "Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank" will be playing at 9 p.m. July 22- 24. It is completely dark by 9 p.m. at this point, so don't be late!

For all of you Elvis fans I am betting that you are aware of the new movie out about his life. We went to see it in Cheyenne awhile back, and it was fantastic.

Now I see that it has been in Kimball, but it will be at the Midwest soon. Actually worth seeing twice, so might see you there.

Another good one out at the mall in Scottsbluff is "Where the Crawdads Sing." The book had much more detail so it was better, but in my opinion they did pretty good on the movie.

If you travel to Fort Rob for entertainment the performances this week at the Playhouse are: "Damn Yankees on the 21st at 8 p.m. and on the 23rd at 2 p.m. "Something Rotten" on the 22nd at 2 p.m. and on the 26th at 8 p.m. "Desperate Measures" on the 22nd at 8 p.m. "The Sound of Music" on the 23rd at 10 a.m. and "The Church Basement Ladies" on the 23rd at 8 p.m., the 24th at 2 p.m. and the 27th at 8 p.m.

The folks at the LaGrange School of the Bible will be hosting an ALIVE weekend youth conference July 28-31st. The theme is "SALT." See Laura Bagley for the code to lower your cost and to register.

Well guess that is all for this week.

Harvest is in full swwing so be aware of the extra huge machines and the guys in them, be safe.

Take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
