Van Pelt Reunion Offers Much At Museum

Good morning Banner County. Here is hoping that you are having a good week, one that is not too hot to handle. With red flag days this past week, we are praying for rain.

The 2021 Van Pelt Reunion will take place at the picnic area of the Banner County Museum on Sunday, September 12th from 12:30- 4 p.m. For those who live within a 30/40-mile distance, please bring a hot/cold dish of your choosing and anyone traveling further may bring something easy. Paper and plastic tableware will be provided as well as cold bottled water. There is plenty of grass for kids games, so you are welcome to bring those also, and the museum has a nice horseshoe pit. They began on August 23rd and will continue through September 29th to host an Adult Reading Program at the Lied Public Library in Scottsbluff. This is to encourage adults in all that they offer and is an all day event – and free Monday, Aug. 30th.

Friday August 27th is the date for registration if you are interested in attending the Legacy Grandparenting Summit in October. To register, go to the WestWay Christian Church at 1701 W 27th St. in Scottsbluff. More information is available at 635-2653.

You are invited to join the folks in Hay Springs while they host a Friendly Festival August 27-29. There will be an ice cream social, golf tournament, parade, free swimming, lawn mower races and more. More information is available at 308-638-7132.

The Farmers Market is still hanging out at 18th Street in Scottsbluff on Saturday August 28th from 8-11 a.m.

Also on the 28th is Free Riverside Discovery Day as Scottsbluff Fire Department and the Scottsbluff Health Department team up for a “Back to School Safety Splash.” The splash pad will be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, please call 308-631-6507.

Auditions for the upcoming performance of the 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee will be at 7:30 p.m. on the 30th, Monday, at the Judy Chaloupka Theater, WNCC.

Here in the Burg at the schoolhouse there will be cross country on the 26th, Today! at Scottsbluff. On Tuesday, August 31st the high school volleyball team will play at Hay Springs at 4 p.m. Good luck and safe travel to all of you.

Flowerfield School will begin on Monday, August 30th and will host class for both the 4th and 5th grades since it was cancelled last year.
