Mitchell Wins Kimball Invite

The Kimball Golf Invite was held May 6 at Four Winds Golf Course with 15 teams on hand.

Mitchell won with a total score of 324 – and five golfers in the top 10 individually. Bridgeport was second at 360 and Sidney third with 372.

Kimball didn’t qualify for the team standings. Throughout the season, Kimball has been unable to field a complete team and only three individuals have been playing: Jesse Heide-Sieren, Cole Henton, and Landon Norberg.

In individual play, Mitchell’s Cael Peters won with a 75 and teammate Austin Thyne shot a 78 for second place. Bridgeport’s Brady Newkirk shot 81 for third, Brody Brown of Morrill shot 85 for fourth, and Jaron Anderson of Mitchell was fifth at 85.

Then came Kimball’s best golfer this season, Heide-Sieren. He was among three golfers who shot 86 and ended up slotted in sixth place. Seventh went to Mitchell JV player Ashtyn Martin and in eighth was Mykin Marco of Mitchell.

Kimball’s Henton shot 92 and Norberg carded 138.

Potter-Dix’s Coyote golf team also competed. It was led by Tobi Thompson at 111, Trevor Williams at 125, Josh Kasten at 129 and Bryce Winter at 144.

Two days before the Kimball Invite, the Longhorns played in the Storm Invite at Creek Valley – and Heide-Sieren took first with a 77. His fellow senior and number two player, Henton, shot an 86 and placed seventh. Rounding out the Kimball field was Norberg at 131.
