P-D boys barely fall to Minatare 47-42

The Potter-Dix Coyotes traveled to Minatare for a close game but they couldn’t quite pull off the win on Friday, Feb. 19.

The Indians got off to a fast start in the first quarter adding 14 to the board and holding Potter-Dix to nine. In the second the Coyotes added another nine while the Minatare boys added just eight, bringing the halftime score to 22-18 in favor of Minatare.

Both teams came back from halftime with renewed vigor and each added 16 to the board and in the final quarter the Coyotes earned eight points and the Minatare boys nine.

Leading the Coyotes was senior Cole Christensen with 10, netting 4/13 field goals and shooting 2/4 for a 50 percent average from the line followed closely by Connor Williams who netted three treys for a total of nine points to his credit.

Each of the Potter-Dix boys got on the board with Coby Hicks adding six, Edward Barnes five, and Sam Bogert four. Both Dylan Neilsen and Tyrus Gawith each contributed three and Noah Nelson two.

Hicks pulled in nine rebounds and contributed one steal while Nelson grabbed seven rebounds, all defensive, and added an assist.

Christensen pulled down six, splitting his rebounds evenly, contributed three assists and one steal.

Turnovers were kept low, totaling just 14 for the Coyotes and the team racked up 17 personal fouls with both Hicks and Christensen earning four.

The Coyotes faced the Minatare boys again on Tuesday, Feb. 23 for the D 2-11 sub-district semi-finals. Information was not available at press time
