Banner County closes season with tough losses

The Banner County Lady Wildcats lost the playoff game against the South Platte Lady Blue Knights on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The Banner County girls struggled in the first quarter to gain footing against the seasoned Lady Blue Knights, scoring four to the opponents seven but rallying in the second quarter and missing a point-for-point match against the South Platte girls by one, adding nine to the board while the Lady Blue Knights added ten.

The struggle continued after halftime when the Lady Wildcats added five to their board of 13 while their opponents added eight, closing the third quarter with a score of 25-18 in Big Springs’ favor.

The final quarter brought more of the same with a gain of seven for the Lady Blue Knights compared to the additional three on the board for the Lady Cats.

Leading the Cats was Courtney Knisley with nine followed by Paige Cross with five, Emily Singleton with four, MaKenna Dahlgrin with two and Shaylee White with one.

The Banner County girls out rebounded their competitors 41-37, with Dahlgrin pulling down twelve, Knisley grabbed nine and White eight.

Turnovers were high for the Lady Cats, totaling 26 to the 16 charted by South Platte.

The Banner County boys fell to the South Platte Blue Knights on Monday, Feb. 22. No individual stats were available for the Wildcats at press time.
