Kimball has strong showing in own meet

Kimball had a strong showing in its own cross country meet held last Friday at Four Winds Golf Course.

The Kimball boys finished third in the meet, while the Kimball girls took fourth place.

In the girls varsity 5,000 meter run, coming in first for Kimball and 20th overall with a time of 25:34 was Kailey Dickerson. Alex Reader finished 24th in 26:36, while Arica McCloud took 36th in 29:29.

Coming in at 38th and 39th overall were Kennedy Lewis and Raylyn Soper, with times of 29:49 and 30:46, respectively. Monica Wasielewski came in at 41st overall with a time of 31:18. Patricia Casimiro also finished with a time of 39:03 and took 44th place.

Cheyenne South won the team race, while Pine Bluffs finished second and Bridgeport took third.

Individually, Ann Sanchez of Cheyenne South won the meet with a time of 21:13. Jessie Smith of Bayard finished second in 22:37.

For the boys varsity race, Brandon Barker finished fifth overall with a time of 18:55 to lead Kimball. He also medaled in the event.

Coming in second for Kimball and 11th overall was Zachery Wagner with a run time of 20:03. Kaden Adrien finished 22nd in 22:15, while Joel Evertson took 33rd in 22:57 and Nicholas Thomas-Lewis finished 34th in 22:58.

Thomas Lenzen finished 43rd with a time of 24:27. The final three runners for Kimball, coming in at 55th, 59th and 64th overall, were Garrett Pederson with a time of 26:03, Devin Gardner with a time of 26:48, and Sebastian Portillo with a time of 28:31.

Cheyenne South also won the boys team race, while Bridgeport finished second. Jorge Garcia of Pine Bluffs won the individual title in 17:52.

"Everyone has improved their times, so you can't beat that," Kimball coach Tiffany Johnson said. "One of our guys got a medal and that's awesome. They are all working hard and know what they need to do to improve and I'm sure they will."

In the boys junior high race, Zavyer White paced Kimball with a 26th place finish in 12:01. Stephen Bateman followed with a 44th place finish in 13:36, Beau Hanks took 48th in 14:16 and Alex Flores finished 49th in 14:26. Also for Kimball, Jacob Miller finished 60th in 19:31 and Arturo Fernandez finished 61st in 19:39.

For the junior high girls, Saydi Schanaman was the lone Kimball runner and finished 40th in 18:05.
