Ilene Chiles

Ilene Atkins Chiles was born near Dix, August 12, 1910, the daughter of Dallas K. and Minnie (Brothers) Atkins. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) and taught in Nebraska and Iowa.

On September 18, 1939, she was married to C. Lloyd Chiles. They were the parents of two children, Annette Lynn Chiles Schneider of Omaha and Paul Vernon Chiles of Inwood, West Virginia, who survive. She is also survived by granddaughter Suzanne Nelson and great granddaughter Katie, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and brothers Vernon Atkins of Kimball, and Glen D. Atkins of Loveland, CO., sister Florence Atkins Canada of Lakewood, CO., and two nephews.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and served as chairman of their Book Club for many years. She was also a 4H Club leader, and a member of Delta Zeta sorority.

Services

Visitation Friday 11 a.m. until service time, Funeral Service Friday 12:00 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church 7th & Cedar Kimball. Interment will be in the Kimball Cemetery.
