Banner FFA Students At National Convention

Banner County

Good morning! Finally had that hard freeze, now let’s have spring, haha. Just getting started.

Well, here we are in November. Veterans Day and Thanksgiving are soon to be days of celebration.

As a heads-up, the Veterans Day celebration at the school will be on Wednesday, November 8.

Currently and through November 20th, there is an exhibit at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering titled “Voices and Votes.” It is based on a major exhibit that is at the Smithsonian National Museum.

Today is preschool story time at the Lied library in Scottsbluff and you have two times to choose from, 10 a.m. or 6:15 p.m.

Friday, November 3rd begins the weekend with Board Game Night at the Gering Library at 6 p.m. for all ages, or Vintage Christmas Tree Painting at Elodie’s Oddities at 102 E Overland between 5 and 9 p.m.

The Midwest also will begin several showings of “Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” on the 3rd with show times at 1:30 and 7 p.m. The movie will play again for Ladies Night Out on Saturday the 4th at 6 p.m. and on the 5th at 1 p.m. Here is another heads-up. There will be a live performance at the Midwest on Friday, November 9th, titled “iMagician-AMAZE” with Jamie Allan. Final event that I am aware of on the 3rd is the 2023 Sip & Sample at the Bayard Depot Museum beginning at 5 p.m.

Banner FFA students continue to attend the National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, through the 4th. Wishing them new experiences, knowledge and safe travels. The first Saturday of the month has youth volleyball at 8 a.m. for Banner County, Coffee & Grebel at the Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff between 8 and 10 a.m.(and you may pre-order the previous day until noon by calling 632-8125), and the 15th annual Warrior Run beginning at the Legacy of the Plains Museum with registration at 9 a.m. The 10k run starts at 10:10 a.m. and the 5k walk/run at 10:20 a.m. Proceeds go to the Veterans and Military Families Emergency Relief Organization.

In Bridgeport between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. the annual Bridgeport Holidaze Craft and Vendor Show will take place in the Prairie Winds Community Center with crafts, vendors and concessions. There will be a learning event from 2-4 p.m. at the Harms Advanced Technological Center from Nourishing Home titled “Traditional Healing Soup.” Final event on November 4th is “Halloween High Jinks” at the Minatare Library between 3 and 5:30 p.m. with Trunk or Treat, bounce houses, a costume contest, penny carnival and concessions. This is Free!

Sunday, November 5th there will be a painting session at Elodie’s Oddies at 102 E Overland for kids that is a Kid’s Christmas Gift Workshop. This will be from 2-3 p.m.

At the Alliance Eagle’s Club that afternoon from 1-4 p.m. there will be a Country Music Jamboree. There is no cover charge and everyone is welcome.

The thing we all have been waiting months for also takes place on the 5th. Daylight Savings time ends at 2 a.m. on the 5th, so remember to set your clocks back one hour when you go to bed Saturday night. Yeah, dark that much longer.

Monday, November 6th, finds our wrestling team headed to Lingle/Ft. Laramie for competition at 2 p.m. Good luck and safe travel.

Tuesday the 7th is a regular commissioners meeting at the courthouse at 8:30 a.m., and on the 8th the FFA students will attend Careers in Ag session at PREC. Also there will be a Veterans Job Fair/Hiring event between 1-3 p.m. at 505 Broadway in Scottsbluff suite 300. More information is available by calling 632-1423.

That evening at the Lied Library in Scottsbluff at 6 p.m. Joyzelle Gingway Godfrey will give a presentation titled “Storytelling Of The Dakota.” Everyone is invited to attend.

Here is one more heads-up. The Banner County One-Act Play will be held on the evening of November 10th, so get your tickets. Now!

Have a great week and take care until the next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
