Potter-Dix Earns Fourth Straight Undefeated Season

Finishes Regular Season Unblemished With 51-15 Rout Of South Platte

POTTER-- For the fourth straight year, the Potter-Dix Coyote 6-man football team has ended its regular season undefeated, and is ready to battle through the playoffs in hopes of a State Championship.

Although there was some talk prior to the season about how the team would handle the graduation of All-Star Luke Kasten, those that followed the team closely knew that for all of Kasten's brilliance on the field, the Coyotes were not a one-note team reliant upon one superstar for success.

And as this season played out, it showed the Coyotes were loaded with talent, and had no trouble adjusting to the loss of Kasten. Kasten's cousin Brayden took over the offense, and played brilliantly all year.

However, there is a strong supporting cast on this roster filled with talent. Senior Jaxen Beuttenback, juniors Dawsen Monheiser and Logan Hottell and sophomore Dylan Tabor all had outstanding season, and they are ready to lead the Coyotes deep into the playoffs.

In last Friday's contest, the Coyotes opened a 10-0 lead against the four-win South Platte Blue Knights, then put the hammer down and racked up 27 points in the second quarter to take a 37-0 lead into the halftime break. South Platte was finally able to get on the board with a touchdown in the third and fourth quarter, but it was far too little, too late to make a difference in the final result of the game, a 51-15 rout by Potter-Dix.

Tabor took over the quarterbacking duties and threw for 9 completions on 14 attempts for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brayden Kasten had a relatively light load running on the day, only rushing 2 times for 10 yards and a touchdown. He excelled as a receiver, catching three passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns. The Coyotes spread the ball around, with four different players scoring.

The Coyotes host the 4-4 Red Cloud Warriors, who have the unenviable task of making the long trip out to Potter to match up against the undefeated Coyotes. The Warriors are a well-balanced team, and have an outstanding receiver in senior Caden Fry, who averages almost 100 yards receiving per game. Although the Coyotes are the favorite in this matchup, Red Cloud is another one of these eastern teams that have to battle through their regular season to get a playoff spot. It will be important for the Coyotes to get off to a fast start and put away a tough team that's used to having to fight hard for each win.

If the Coyotes can continue their superior play and spread the ball around on offense, look for the Potter-Dix boys to get past the Warriors and earn another playoff game.
