RIDERS ON A STORM

The weekend storm that hit the Kimball area shut down I-80 and Highway 71, forcing double lines of trucks to wait for the roads to reopen. Winds in the area topped out at 70 mph, and then the snow created blizzard conditions. Hundreds of power poles went down. Especially hard hit were the Kimball, Banner County and Potter areas. By Monday most snow had melted in Kimball, but some people remained snowed in around the Harrisburg area. Banner County and Potter-Dix schools were closed Monday, while Kimball schools were running limited bus routes.
