Larry Dale Halstead

Larry Dale Halstead, 70, of Johnstown Colorado, passed away on December 17, 2023.

He was born on January 9, 1953 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and graduated from Kimball High School in 1971. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1975 as a GMG3 Gunners Mate Petty Officer 3rd Class and earned a Bronze Star among other commendations while serving in Vietnam. Larry, or "Echo" as he was known by so many, worked in the oilfields upon exiting the military and spent 5 years at Evertson Well Service, 28 years with Cannon Oil & Gas, and 13 years as an independent consultant. He also worked for Shell as a completion foreman consultant for 7 years before retiring in 2020. 

Larry always made time to hunt or fish with his buddies and found mentoring during hosted trips for Wounded Warriors, along with Rob Cannon and others, to be very fulfilling. 

He is survived by his wife Cindy, son Andy, daughter Amanda, stepson and wife Justin and Lindsy Drake, and grandchildren Lona and Jaxon.  Also he is survived by his siblings LeAnn, Nancy, Jeri, Terry and Annette and their respective spouses, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Dale and Vivian and infant son Scott, as well as lifelong friend Rob Cannon.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Larry at Nordy's Bar-B-Que & Grill, 4360 St.Cloud Drive, Loveland, Colorado, on Saturday December 23 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
