HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and yours!

I am wishing you time with family, friends,food,fun and relaxation on this weekend, and hopefully many reasons to be thankful.

We had a gentle reminder this past weekend on Sunday, and personally I was reminded that even with the loss of loved ones we can be thankful.

On Thanksgiving Day, the 40th annual Thanksgiving in the Valley Dinner will be held at the Guadalupe Center offering a Free dinner between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. If you are in need of home delivery, please call 632-3736.

Well, and of course now we have Black Friday, and are (and have been for several weeks now) being hit with Christmas advertisements and “specials.”

On the 24th Santa’s Village will open that evening at 6:30 p.m. and the annual Gering Christmas Parade will begin at 6 p.m.

Saturday the 25th is “Celebrate Small Business Day” and several businesses and organizations are offering special events.

These include the Winters’s Farmers Market at the legacy of the Plains Museum between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

And there will be a Torrington Lions Club Holiday Bazaar at the Goshen County Fairgrounds. They will be open between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and will have soup and concessions available. If you bring a gift in with you they also will wrap it for Free!

The movie at the Midwest that evening will begin at 7 p.m. and will be “When Harry Met Sally.”

Scottsbluff will finish out your weekend the next evening with its annual Christmas Parade on Broadway at 6 p.m.

The Gering Library is offering Free Christmas gift wrapping services on November 27th, December 4th, 11th and 18th. They will provide paper, tape, and bows!

On Wednesday, November 29th, the District One Act Play competitions will be held at Banner County School with several schools competing. They are expecting nine schools to compete beginning at 9 a.m., and this is open to the public.

Good luck to the wrestlers and One Act students this week and safe travel.

As a Heads-Up, “Wild Lights!” will open at Riverside Discovery Center on Dec. 1st and 2nd at 5 p.m. Other dates will follow until Christmas.
