Man Dies In Truck Accident

Nebraska State Patrol was called at approximately 4:10 p.m. Octt. 5 regarding a two-vehicle fatality crash at the intersection of Highway 71 and Road 42, just north of Kimball.

A northbound semi tractor-trailer hauling sugar beets was attempting to turn eastbound onto Road 42. A preliminary investigation shows that as the semi slowed to make the turn, a northbound straight FedEx truck rear-ended the trailer.

The driver of the straight truck, identified as Austin Mitchell, 21, of Gering, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
