Farmers Day Craft Fair, Bake Sale & Salsa Contest At Library

September is here! For Kimball, this means Farmers Day is right around the corner. Farmers Day weekend is always filled with fun activities for the whole family.

The library will have several fundraising events going on.

The Friends of the Kimball Library are once again hosting the annual Book Sale, and in addition, a Craft Fair this year. The craft fair will feature handmade items from local crafters and artists. A portion of the proceeds go to the Friends of the Kimball Library to help support the library’s work.

We will also be hosting the Bake Sale again as well as the Salsa Contest. The bake sale will consist of baked items from local supporters of the library. If you would like to donate a baked item to the bake sale, we would love to have it.

The Salsa Contest was a big success last year, so we have decided to make it an annual event. All those interested in signing up for this contest come into the library to sign up. Each contestant will need to bring in a 32 ounce container with the red or green salsa made by hand.

The contest will be held on Saturday, September 30th from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The winner for each category, red or green, will be announced in person and online at 1 p.m.

Lastly, the library will be hosting a new fundraiser this year. We have named it “Pie a City Guy (or girl)”. Representatives from most of the city departments, including Mayor Morrison and our City Administrator Annette Brower have volunteered to support the library in raising funds for our children’s programming.

Raffle tickets will be available for purchase starting Sept. 7 here at the library for $2 per ticket. Three drawings will take place Saturday, Sept. 30, and the names drawn will be given the choice to pie the department representative of their choice. We are excited about this fun fundraiser and hope to raise as much as possible to support the Lego Club, Little Readers Storytime, and Library Explorers programs.
