Wheeler Out, Toth In At KPS

Toth Joins School Board; Sowards Replaces Wheeler As FFA Advisor

On Monday evening, the Kimball School Board accepted the resignation of FFA Advisor/Ag Instructor Sally Wheeler. Wheeler had been with the Kimball Schools for nine years and accepted a position with the Pine Bluffs High School. Emily Sowards will replace her.

Britni Toth took the oath of office as the newest Kimball School Board member. Board member Ken Smith was elected to the office of treasurer.

Superintendent Trevor Anderson updated the board about ongoing projects, including repairs and new asphalt at the Mary Lynch parking lot and the new flooring at both schools. He said both projects should be completed by the end of the week.

The activity bus, scheduled to be delivered in April, is awaiting parts for the air conditioning unit. Anderson fears it will not be ready and available for the first activities of the school year. Options are being considered.

According to Anderson's report, with 83% of the fiscal year completed, 61.63% of the budget has been spent. The actual year-to-date expenditures are $7,753,693.20, and the current cash balance in the general fund is $3,288,702.81.

The board approved the purchase of Beyond Textbooks for the 2023-24 school for $11,000. They also approved the 2023-24 district handbooks.

The next Kimball School Board meeting will be on Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the KCTS meeting room.
