Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

1926 Kimball County high school football team

Seeing that local sports are slow this time of the year, the Observer this week begins a weekly series through August that features Kimball County High School teams from yesteryear. Kicking off this feature is the KCHS team of 1926. Perhaps you'll recognize some family names from the past or some folks your parents or grandparents talked about. Pictured, as identified on the back of the photograph, are right end Bus Rodman, right tackle Pug Tierney, right guard John Steele, center Louie White, right halfback Wiley Brown, fullback Melvin Swanson, left end Pat Louthan, left tackle Barney Oldfield, left guard May Painter, left halfback Jess Long and quarterback Bob Richards. This photo is on display at the Fraternal Hall Museum at Chestnut and 2nd streets in Kimball. The museum is open mid-afternoons Wednesday, Thursday and Friday through August.
