Good morning, and happy May! I don't know about you, but I can not believe it is May already, I think I am about a month behind.
Everyone is talking about school getting out, graduations and summer. About time for all of that, yet somehow I feel like it should be the 1st of April.
One sure sign of the end of the year at the school house is the annual Spring concert. The pre-K through 12th grades will perform for you this Thursday, May 4th at 6 p.m.
Art projects will be on display to view either before or after the concert also. The following day there will be a late start for students as they observe "Teacher Appreciation Day."
There will also be high school track that day at Leyton beginning at 9 a.m.
Saturday the 6th of May is your opportunity to have breakfast with Superintendent Evelyn Browne. Please call the school for more information at 308-436-5262.
Monday May 8th at 7 p.m. the regular Banner County school board meeting will be held in the cafeteria, and on Tuesday new members of the National Honor Society will be inducted at 6 p.m.
Wednesday the 10th, district track competition will be at Creek Valley High School in Chappell for high school track team members. Safe travel to all.
There will be a Job Fair at the Main Street Market in Kimball on May 6. It will be open between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
This evening over the hill and at the Western Nebraska Arts Center, original art from students at WNCC will have a display in the Bronson Gallery opening. This is Free and open to the public from 5-7 p.m. and will run through June 25th. At the same time in the Main Gallery there will also be an open house for the works of Martin Vargas. Presented will be his art in various mediums, titled "Stages." This is also Free and open to the public and will be in the gallery through May 28th.
The 5th of May is Cinco De Mayo, or the 5th of May. In recognition, the Midwest Theater will show three films, May 5th at 7:30 p.m. is "El Mariachi," May 6th at 6:30 p.m. is "Desperado" and on the 7th at 1:30 p.m. they will show "Once Upon a Time in Mexico."
Saturday evening, May 6th will be Cruise Nite for the High Plains Auto Club. They will meet at 5 p.m. at the Dairy Queen and begin to cruise at 6 p.m. Sharp!
Rounding out the week, Sunday morning, May 7th the Knights of Columbus Council # 2681 will host a breakfast buffet beginning at 8 a.m. until noon at their location, 1719 1st Avenue, Scottsbluff.
That afternoon at the Eagles Club in Allliance there will be at Country Music Jamboree from 1-4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and there is no cover charge.
