Good morning and Happy New Year! The last 2/3 have been pretty tough, so hope for better this year.
Things are now moving in a slower pace, but we all know that is temporary.
The Midwest Theater will show the movie "Strange World" January 6th & 7th at 7:30 p.m. and on the 8th as a matinee at 1:30 p.m. This one is rated PG. Here is a heads-up! On January 12th the Midwest will be featuring two Grand Ole Opry members, Dailey & Vincent.
These two artist have won many awards for their talents including five Grammy Awards. For more information please call the theater at 632-4311.
The Western Nebraska Arts Center will have new opening shows in both the Main Gallery and the Bronson Gallery.
The Mail Gallery will feature work by Bob Peltz January 5th through the 29th and in the Bronson gallery January 5th through February 26th the exhibit will be "Native Art: Beadwork Traditional To Contemporary."
Today, January 5th, the Courthouse will see newly elected officials sworn in with a small informal reception and there will be a short meeting all beginning at 10 a.m.
Here at the schoolhouse January 5th – Today! – it's back at school and on the road the junior high boys basketball team will be playing in South Platte at 1 p.m.
The following day here at home on Friday the high school boys basketball team will take on Kimball at 4 p.m. There will be a regular day of school on Friday also.
Saturday the 7th there are three different extra curricular events to choose from if you so choose:
• The high school wrestling team will at Garden County, with matches beginning at 9 a.m.
• The Speech team will be in competition in Gering.
• And at 1 p.m., there will be high school boys basketball at Home verses Hyannis.

On Monday, January 9th, the Oregon Trails Honor Band will participate in Alliance and there will be a school board meeting that evening at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday January 11th the Ignite Youth group will be back in action at the Harrisburg Community Church at 6 p.m.
May this New Year be a time for music, or as I have heard said, "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness" – or choose Joy.
