Elections Are Over, And It's Time To Move On

Banner County

Good morning, this week blew in with strong gusty winds and a time change. Both were unwanted by yours truly.

Elections are over (yeah!), but since that was Tuesday, and this is Thursday, nothing for me to report. Hopefully everyone voted and we can move on.

Today, November 10th the annual Veterans Day breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. for all military personal at the high school, and a program will follow at 9 a.m. that is open to the public.

Also on this date, the junior high wrestling team will head to Hemmingford. For the time, please call the school at 436-5262.

Tuesday the 15th will see some students attending the Sportsmanship Summit in Alliance, and we wish safe travel and good luck to all.

Tomorrow, November 11th, the folks from the Food Bank for the Heartland will be at the Good Shepherd of the Plains Episcopal Church and will be giving away food supplies from 5 to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

The regular school board meeting will be on Monday the 14th at 7 p.m. and the next commissioners meeting will be on Tuesday, November 15th at 8:45 p.m.

The folks in Morrill will host a veterans breakfast on the 11th at the Morrill American Legion Post #10 from 7-10 a.m. The location is 117 Central Avenue. All veternans and current military personal are invited.

The Greener Gardens Greenhouse Project will be hosting a Floral Wreath workshop at the North Platte NRD between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, November 11th. For more information, please call 308-631-7226.

On Saturday the 12th the annual Holidaze Craft & Vendor Show will be held in the Prairie Winds Community Center in Bridgeport. The time is between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. This will be a big one as they are expecting approximately 60 vendors.

Did any of you attend the craft shows in Gering this past weekend? I am one of those people who hardly ever walk out the door with empty hands. Yep, I admit it, I really enjoy craft shows!

I don’t believe that I have ever had the pleasure of informing you about upcoming events in the community of Angora. Well, this changes that. There will be an Angora Club House Country Dance on Saturday, November the 12th. Dance lessons will be offered between 7 and 8 p.m. and dancing will follow until you are “danced out!” This is a family friendly event.

The Midwest Theater is moving from last weeks showing of the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” to this weeks film, “Lyle, Lyle Crocodile.” This one is rated PG and will play on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. I am more of this kind of gal, just saying.

Well here is hoping that you made it to the voting booth, and wishing you a great week. The cold is coming, so stay warm! Until next time, Barb Cross at 436-7152.
