Mary Lynch Principal Resigns

Kimball Student Enrollment Reported To Be 153 In Grades 7-12

The Kimball School Board voted to accept the resignation of Mary Lynch Principal Jamie Soper at its regular monthly meeting on March 14.

Soper has been principal for the past two years, and her resignation will be effective at the end of the 2021-22 contract period.

She stated: “It has been a privilege to work with the staff at Mary Lynch, as well as the special education team in Kimball. I believe our school system is headed in a positive direction, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for our students.”

Danielle Reader, Jr/Sr High School principal, reported the enrollment of 153 for grades 7-12. Reader reported that there are two teacher vacancies and one paraprofessional vacancy at this time.

As students begin registering for 2022-23, a scheduling change will occur with band moving from 9th period to 1st period. Students will be required next year to take a grade-level class during 9th period.

Superintendent Trevor Anderson's report focused on district financials with 36.66% of the budget spent, while 50% of the fiscal year has been completed.

He also compared the current situation to previous years. The actual year-to-date expenditures is $3,636,435.13. The current cash balance in the General Fund is $2,306,885.41. In 2021 at this time, the balance was $1,578,674.10, and in 2020, the balance was $402,039.55.

In action items, the board approved the 2022-23 school calendar, which includes a 1:30 p.m. Wednesday meeting and dismissal of students; Superintendent Anderson assured the board that the necessary hours and contract days are met by this calendar. He also is hopeful that with the new HVAC system, which will be installed over the summer, there will be no early release for heat days at the beginning of the school year.

After going into closed session, the board re-entered open session to approve the classified salaries/administrative salaries and substitute pay for the 2022-23 school year.

Final action items included approval of renovation of the music room and approval of the surplus property to be sold.

The board discussed the bid for 450 auditorium seats, but no action was taken. A special meeting to vote on the auditorium seating was discussed.
