It's Time, Daylight Time, For Some Banner County News

Banner County

Happy St. Paddys Day and good morning Banner County!

Here is hoping that you all are in the right time zone this morning. I would have sent a reminder in last week’s paper but I forgot, so there you go.

If it wasn’t for someone else mentioning it late Saturday night, I am pretty sure I would not have remembered until Sunday morning when I was late and off kilter.

This change doesn’t come easy either, it will take me several weeks to adjust. Hope it works out better for you.

You also need to be wearing that “green” today, and there will probably be plenty of Irish dishes offered if you are eating out.

One of those is the St Patty’s Day Lunch being served at the Alliance Senior Center, beginning at noon. I’m sure there are many such events.

There will be NO School tomorrow, March 18th at the Banner County School for students. Saturday the 19th sees two speech students in state speech competition at the Kearney high school, and on the following day band students are involved in the Class D All State band day. Safe travel and good luck to everyone.

Beginning on Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th, the movie ‘Uncharted’ will play at the Midwest Theater at 7:30 p.m. It will also play on Sunday as a matinee at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday the 19th also is the scheduled day to recycle your cycles at the WNCC Harms Center in Scottsbluff. They will be accepting old bikes on the south side of the building. These will be repaired and put back into the community and kept out of the scrap yard.

Also on the 19th at noon, there will be a Cornhole Tournament at the Elks Lodge # 1726 in Torrington. The address is 120 E. 20th Ave.

Later in the evening, and closer to home, The Wildcat Gobblers Hunting Heritage Banquet will be held at the Gering Civic Center, 1050 M St. at 7 p.m. and the 32nd annual Oregon Trail Pheasants Forever Banquet will be held the Weborg 21 Centre located at 2625 10th street, Gering at 5:30 p.m. For more information there are three numbers you may call: (308) 765-3900, 765-9384, or 765-5270.

Although there will be no school for students on Friday the 18th, there will be a “mini-basketball camp” at the school at 2:30 p.m. followed by a community soup supper and more basketball at 5:30 p.m.

We are sad and extend our sympathy to the family of Tom Wayman, who recently passed away.

That is all for now, stay safe until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
