Boys Rout Minatare

Potter-Dix basketball resumed play after the MAC Tournament, with the girls matching up against Prairie in New Raymer, Colo., on Tuesday and both the boys and girls teams matching up with Minatare on Saturday.
The girls traveled on Tuesday to New Raymer to play against the Prairie Lady Mustangs. Potter-Dix gave a big effort, but the Lady Mustangs were able to open a lead and hold off the Lady Coyotes' offense. Potter-Dix threatened to go on a roll a few times, but the Prairie girls shut them down and continued to score. By the fourth quarter the Lady Mustangs were in control, and finished off the Lady Coyotes with a 63-43 victory.
On Saturday the girls were back home to host Minatare, and were able to match up well against the struggling Lady Indians. The Lady Coyotes dominated under the boards and were able to shoot inside and score well.
The Lady Coyotes defense smothered the Lady Indians, offering no clean looks or good scoring opportunities. The Lady Coyotes took the victory, 53-16, and moved their record to 4-12 on the season.
The boys team just played one game this week, against Minatare, and had no trouble scoring against the Indians while the defense shut down Minatare's offense. The Coyotes cruised to a 62-19 victory, moving their record to 12-2 on the season. Junior Luke Kasten led the scoring with 30 points.
The teams are next scheduled to host Garden County on Friday.
