Heide-Sieren Makes Top Half At State

Jesse Heide-Sieren tied for 39th in a field of 93 at the 2021 NSAA Class C Boys Golf Championship at Kearney Country Club on May 25 and 26.

Heide-Sieren shot rounds of 93 and then 90 for a total of 183.

The senior also carded the best two-day score among those in his Day 2 foursome.

Heide-Sieren was the lone Longhorn to make the field at State.

The individual champion was senior Rockney Peck of Wisner-Pilger, who shot rounds of 72 and 76 for a 6 over par total of 148 – 5 strokes ahead of runner-up Alexander Schademann, a sophomore out of Fillmore Central.

In team play, Bishop Neumann rallied from a 10-shot deficit to tie Columbus Scotus for the 2021 team title with a total score of 680. Neumann went on to win in a playoff over the Shamrocks.

Both teams shot 112 strokes over par, 18 fewer than Aquinas Catholic, who was the 3rd place team.

Among area teams, Mitchell placed fourth at 701 to lead the way.
