On To Bayard After SPVA, WTC For Kimball

Kimball's Longhorn track and field teams traveled to Grant on Friday to compete in the SPVA Track and Field Meet and followed that up in Mitchell on Monday with a date in the Western Trails Conference Track and Field Meet.

Here are some highlights from those two events.

SPVA

The boys squad finished seventh out of seven teams with 16 points and the girls also finished seventh out of seven teams with 25 points.

Highlights for the boys team included Christian Allen-Van Pelt placing third in the 100 meters and sixth in the long jump, senior Connor Cluff placing third in the 3,200 meters, and senior Izaak Rohde placing fifth in the shot put.

SPVA highlights for the girls included junior Kaitlin Heeg winning the triple jump and placing fifth in the long jump, senior Raven Johnson placing second in the pole vault, and sophomore Jayden Paxton placing fourth in the long jump.

WTC

For the boys, Allen-Van Pelt was third in the 100 and long jump, and sixth in the triple jump. James McGinnis was fifth in the pole vault, and the 4x800 team took fifth.

For the girls, Heeg was first in the 100H, third in the 300H, fourth in the long jump and first in the triple jump.

Johnson took first in the pole vault. Tianna Stierwalt placed fourth in the high jump. The fifth-place 4x100 team placed fifth.

Upcoming on Kimball's track schedule are the Bayard BCD on May 7, District at Sutherland on May 13 and State at Omaha on May 21 and 22.
