WTC Names Scholar Athletes

6 Longhorns Honored; Biesecker Gets Scholarship

The Western Trails Conference on Monday announced its new class of scholar-athletes and scholarship recipients.

Kimball High School was well-represented with a half-dozen students making the grade.

The KHS scholar-athletes are seniors Sydney Biesecker, Megan Spicer and Cole Henson and juniors Kaitlin Heeg, Chantelle Manson and Payton Wise.

Biesecker also was honored as Kimball’s WTC scholarship recipient.

Each of Kimball’s Scholar-Athletes will receive a gold medal.

Here is the criteria for WTC Scholar-Athletes:

• Must have lettered in at least two sports for at least three years.

• Must have an ‘A’ grade average.

• Must be approved by the principal and activities director.

• Must be involved in sports that have WTC competition.

Here’s a look at the other scholar-athletes, and their grade level, elsewhere in the WTC.

Bayard: Grace Burry 12, Trevor Reish 12, Daci Harter 12, Christian Leonard 12, Laura Albro 11 and Kolton Kriha 11.

Bridgeport: Sydney Nein 12, Damien Bell 12, Cole Faessler 12, Brady Newkirk 12 and Jake Wallesen 12.

Gordon-Rushville: Jayla Brehmer 12 and Kelanna Lovell 12.

Hemingford: John Ansley 12, Liz Mayer 11, Darren McConville 11, Alex Neefe 12, Landrie Nelson 12, Jack Payne 12, Zach Rozmerick 12, Ethan Specht 11, Brian Turek 12, Alyson Turek 11 and Kenny Wyland 12.

Mitchell: Rylan Aguallo 12, Ashtyn Martin 12, Hadley Markowski 12, Josie Kenkins 12, Francisco Barrios 12, Makena Chambers 12, Jayden Kanno 12, Avery Hobbs 12, Brody Blome 12, Jaden Schumacher 12, Angelica Gutierrez 12, Nathan Coley 12, Burke Schneider 12, Kadin Perez 12, Austin Thyne 12 and Marjie Schmit 12.

Morrill: Ilycia Guerue 12, Madison Mendoza 12, Jaiden Steiner 12, Caden Lewis 12 and Paityn Homan 11.

As for the WTC scholarships, each school’s principal, counselor and AD made the decision based on the following:

• Students must have been active in WTC activities throughout high school and in at least two during their senior year.

• Students must be in good standing with school requirements academically and socially.

• Each school determines the number of scholarship recipients.

• Recipients must continue their education in a post-secondary setting.

In addition to Biesecker, here are the other WTC scholarship recipients:

Bridgeport:  Cade Loomis.

Gordon-Rushville: Jayla Brehmer and Kelanna Lovell.

Hemingford:  Alex Neefe and Landrie Nelson.

Mitchell:  Rylan Aguallo and Jayden Kanno.

Morrill: Caden Lewis and Ilycia Guerue.
