Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Good morning Banner County! Did half of Wyoming blow your way this past week? We sure did have a few days (and nights ) of nonstop high winds didn’t we?
It was just extra cold and a big annoyance at our house, but I know there was a lot of serious, costly damage in some areas. This week the weather looks much better.
Looking on the calendar, most everything is either canceled at this point on the social scale. However the sports schedule at Banner County School is still on track and here it is: Friday, January 22nd the high school wrestling team will leave the school at 8 a.m. for matches in Hemmingford. On the following Saturday, the speech team will have its second meet of the season in Alliance. Two boys basketball games will finish out the week and both are here at home. The first one is on Monday the 25th at 5 p.m with the junior varsity against Gering and the second is on Wednesday, January 27th at 1 p.m. with the junior high and against Leyton. Good luck and safe travel to all of you.
If times or other information is absent here, call the school at 436-7152 and they should be able to help you.
Here is a Heads Up! Thursday of next week, the 28th will be the annual Spelling Bee at the school at 12:30 p.m. Grades 1-8 will compete. As far as I know there is no limit on spectators for any event at this time, but it would probably be wise to check.
Also, there will be NO school on the 29th. I know it makes it pretty hard to not fall into a funk with all of the restrictions that we still have, but there are still things we are able to get out and do.
The Goodhand theater in Kimball is still open on the weekends and bowling alleys offer bowling and pool. Several of us recently went bowling and had a great time.
So with that in mind I leave you with a couple of quotes:
“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”
– John Wooden
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbors, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.”
– Mark Twain.
Whatever it is, do it! Here are a few birthdays this week: Jonathan Muggli, Lacy Krakow, Kole Talkington, Reta Pahl, Nathan Rogers, Travis Cochran, Harli Revelle, Larry Malm, Toria McGowan, and Jaxon Loutzenhiser. Happy Happy Birthday!
Anniversary couple of the week is Mr. & Mrs. Royce Ammon, congratulations!
Have a great week and take care until the next time.
