Longhorns Seventh In Their Own Junior High Invitational

Kimball hosted its Junior High Track Invite this past week and finished 7th in both boys and girls divisions. The Kimball boys scored 37 points while the Kimball girls ended up with 19 points.

Bridgeport won the boys team title with 103 points with Mitchell a close runnerup with 98, followed by Hemingford with 62, Bayard 56, Pine Bluffs 44, Perkins County 39, Kimball 37, Lingle-Ft. Laramie 23, and Morrill 3.

One winner on the day for the Kimball boys was Chris McCloskey taking 1st in the pole vault at 9’6”. Caleb Schaeffer was 6th at 7’6”. McCloskey was also 5th in the high jump at 4’6”, and Schaeffer was 5th in the triple jump at 30’2.25”.

Trey Schindler ran 4th in the 400 with a time of 1:08.20 and was 5th in the long jump at 14’8.5” edging out teammate Gage Schaeffer who was 6th at 14’5”. Uziel Flores was 3rd in the shotput at 36’10”. Derek Kaufman ran 4th in the 100 yard hurdles with a time of 20.40, and was 5th in the 200 yard hurdles with a time of 36.40. James McGinnis was 6th in the 200 yard dash in 29.80.

The 4 x 100 yard relay team of McGinnis, McCloskey, Justin Klosterman, and Caleb Schaeffer ran 5th with a time of 55.50.

Bayard won the girls team title with 107 points with Mitchell runnerup with 102, followed by Bridgeport with 93, Perkins County 60, Hemingford 45, Lingle-Ft. Laramie 33, Kimball 19, and Pine Bluffs 6.

Jayden Paxton was 3rd in the long jump for Kimball with a best jump of 13’.50”, Aspyn Kiefer was 4th in the 400 with a time of 1:20.40. and Katie Kilgore was one place out finished 7th in 1:24.60. Kiefer was also 7th in the long jump at 12’8”. Jayden Paxton and Charlotte Hargreaves tied for 4th place in the high jump at 4’0”, and Hargraves was 6th in the triple jump at 25’8.75”. Alyssa Paxton was 6th in the shotput at 24’4”. The 4 x 100 yard relay team of Jayden Paxton, Julia Winstrom, Emma Patterson, and Charlotte Hargreaves ran 6th in 1:02.10.

Kimball was to compete in the Potter-Dix junior high invite being held at Kimball this week and will also take part in the Pine Bluffs Invite tomorrow (Friday).
