A BUSY WEEK FOR LADY LONGHORN GOLF TEAM

The Kimball high girl's golf team has been busy this mont with a couple of tournaments each week here in the early stage of their season. They were in action at Sidney and Bayard this past week, and hosted their own tournament their own tournament this past Tuesday, but due to print deadlines, we will have to give you results of the Kimball event next week.

Kimball competed in Division one at Sidney and placed 7th in the team standing of the 8 school field. Gering won the team title with 358 points followed by Scottsbluff with 383 Sidney 406 Ogallala 410 Mitchell 411 Chadron 433 Kimball 455 and Alliance 528. Not bad outing for the Kimball girls considering they were up against all the of the larger schools, and the fact that Kimball has team members who are new to the sport this season.

One top ten medalist for Kimball with Payton Wise finishing 9th with her round of 96. Carli Wurdeman shot 113, Raven Johnson 114, Sam Bemis 132, and Lacey Klinkhammer 147, Coach Luke Maas also played his two other team members in the Division Two bracket and both girls were top ten medal winners as Sheridan Magninie Finished 9th with her round 127, and Maddie Cook 10th with 130. Coach Maas commenting on the Sidney Tournament said " I applaud Carli Wurdeman for her round and for her attitude as she works to improve her game. I also kike our senior leadership. It has been good. Even though golf is something new to some of our team members, we have some girls with natural athletic ability and they are working hard in practice".

Kimball 5TH AT BAYARD TOURNAMENT

Although the entire team standings and individual finishes were not available at the time of this writing, Kimball finished 5th as a team with their 475 score. Coach Maas had only 4 girls at Bayard as one of his varsity team failed to make the early bus. A good day for Payton Wise who finished 2nd in the top ten individual list with her round of 91. Sheridan Magninie shot 126, Carli Wurdeman 127, and Sam Bemis 131. Coach Maas said "It was a hot and windy day. Payton struggled to find the pace of the greens on the front nine but got it figured out better on the back nine and shot a lot better. Her nine hole scores were 48-43=91. The rest of the girls played consistently but just couldn't keep it in the fairway, and the rough was long and wet all day but we are definitely capable of more".

Wurdeman's 9 hole scores were 63-64-127, Magninie 62-64=126, and Bemis had a rough front nine with 74 but came back strong on the back with a 57 for her 131. Looking at the schedule this week, they are at Creek Valley today (Thursday) after hosting their tournament this past Tuesday.

Both of these events will be played by scheduled tee times. No Shotgun Start!
