Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Sheriff's Corner

Let me start by saying, when something bothers me I feel the need to address it and express my thoughts. As always, I don’t mind you having a different opinion and the thoughts here are my own but supported by others.

Last night I read an article about Congressman Steve King who stated that he believes we are heading toward a civil war. Opinion polls released say 37 percent of America believes this too. I agree but in no way support the extreme right or extreme left in this. I am a conservative republican but I’m far from extreme. I support the President and while I don’t believe in his tactics or even what he says sometimes, what he has done has brought jobs back and increased the economy. He is not what we are used to for politician; where, they say what you want to hear. We know the term “Politically Correct” which means don’t say anything that will upset the apple cart and never fix the problems that face our great county. Yes, we are a great country… unlike what Governor Cuomo said in a recent speech. He said… “America was never great”. What a pompous ass! Pardon my language.

What’s happening in America and mostly in cities is a hatred, not only to the President, but to democracy, the constitution, law enforcement and human dignity. I’ve been a cop for a long time and when I first became one in New Jersey in the 70’s we were trained in rioting and the riot/mob mentality. Further, we knew that there were professional agitators literally paid by outsiders and even the former USSR. Today, the same thing is happening. One point in fact is the tragedy in Parkland Florida with a school shooting, after that some of the best most charismatic and well-spoken students (some not even from the school) went to Washington D.C. to support gun control. Busloads of students participated to voice their opinion. What wasn’t known was this was bought and paid for by the left wing media who have an agenda (reported by Fox News)… to sell air-time and make more money. The leftwing media will stop at nothing to have sensationalism and even pay for it.

Here is my professional analysis as a law enforcement officer, international peacekeeper, senior law enforcement adviser for the State Department, former counter-intelligence team lead and advisor/instructor to U.S. Army NORTHCOM/Defense Support of Civilian Authority (DSCA). All around the world we’ve seen how small groups of haters and so-called socialists can topple a functioning democratic government. In America, what we are seeing in a disrespect for government and especially those who protect us… those are the dedicated professional law enforcement officers of our great country. The media has portrayed us as blood thirsty, torturous murders based on a five second cell phone video clip. There is always two sides of every story and frankly there are a few bad ones (I’ve witnessed a few) out of over a million local, state and federal law enforcement officers. Too many times when the media captures a bad event they quickly claim it’s the cop who is wrong. The mainstream media never takes the blame for their false reporting. A really good example is the Ferguson shooting where a cop was brutally beaten by a thug and in his last effort to arrest the punk, the guy charged the officer. I’m sure the officer thought he was going to die if he didn’t draw his weapon, command the thug to stop and shoot him. I’ve been fortunate to survive several people I had to fight and struggle with to arrest… without having to resort to shooting the perpetrator. By time the findings came out of the grand jury the whole country was whipped into a frenzy by the terrible actions of the media. That one bad bad incident, enflamed by the media, made it much more dangerous for every law enforcement officer in this country. I might add that the media made millions and millions dollars on the news reports and specials.

In the last election most of the major cities either voted for Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. Both went to people who they knew would support them promising a very socialist view. Senator Sanders appealed to the college students who promised free tuition. Students loved this, most of whom will have staggering debt for their education. Both supported taxing the rich to give to the poor… this would have brought about trillions of more dollars in debt. They were typical politicians who will promise the moon but never deliver on the promises. Many of the supporters were young, poor, immigrant and naïve. I mean no disrespect to many who read this, who believe that the democrats were as they were in the past; who spoke their mind and followed through with great programs to rebuild our country after wars and the great depression. But the agenda and platform of the democrats today are far different than our forefathers.

Here is how I can see the civil war starting. The major cities are going to have more and more protests that will be fed by the media. So far the police have used great restraint in the smaller locations like Portland, Oregon and Charlottesville, Virginia where extreme rightwing and extreme leftwing have clashed. I might add, that I believe in the right to organize peace protest but it’s not going to be peaceful when participants show up masks, goggles, helmets and weapons. I feel that these protests were test beds for what is coming. I foresee that in a major city with a large population of illegal immigrants and people who want more social benefits/entitlements (who don’t want to work and earn a living) will protest. The trend has been increasing in violence and at some point the police will be overwhelmed. All it will take is one officer who feels his life is in danger to use deadly force which will spark a flame of even more violence. This violence will spread to every major city and the mainstream media will enflame it even more. Soon the National Guard will be called in and you imagine how the press will portray national guardsmen in riot gear and M-16 with fixed bayonets? Many of you remember what happened in Los Angeles and those riots over the Rodney King police assault. The Rodney King incident will be nothing to what is coming. A few paid agitators in a crowd and the press at the ready to capture the most horrific video they can. The sad thing is, there will be people who will assemble for a peaceful protest and even people who want to see the action who will be caught up in the violence brought on by a few radicals. I suspect the violence will continue so long as we have sensational press coverage.

I pray that I’m wrong with my prognostication but we are in a time of trouble; socially, politically and spiritually. I took an oath to defend our county against all enemies foreign and domestic. So long as I have a breath to breathe, I will not allow our great country to become the United Socialist States of America!
