Kiwanis is always looking for new members

In the next year Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties is looking to grow their members and solidify the events and programs to offer Kimball and Banner Counties.

Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties began less than a year ago, there were 15 members needed to officially register the club with Kiwanis International.

According to Jay Fennell, President Elect for Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties, Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties is a young professionals club.

“We welcome anyone over the age of 18 and we are always looking for new members. We meet every third Thursday of the month at the Windbreak Bar and Grill at 6:30p.m. for socializing and planning,” said Fennell.

Fennell also added that in the future Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties hope to have enough adult members that they can sponsor clubs for those under the age of 18.

“Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties is affiliated with Kiwanis International. Kiwanis is a group of leaders committed to improving the lives of children in our community.”

Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties’ goal is to improve the lives of children in our communities. “We are still in the planning stages of what this looks like for Kimball and Banner County. We are hoping to offer a mix of fun and educational events. Kiwanis International also has leadership curriculum for all age groups that we hope to implement at some point in the future, but currently we are focusing on growing our adult membership.”

The first big event by Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties, was the Fun on the Fourth event on the fourth of July at Gotte Park.

“Along with the traditional fire truck rides, there was a watermelon feed, bucket truck rides, as well as crafts balloon animals, a photo booth and yard games.”

Fennell said the event was a huge success. “We plan to grow the event in the future.”

Kiwanis of Kimball and Banner Counties next event will take place of Farmer’s Day weekend.

“The Farmer’s Day Market on September 29 from 11-3 at the Old West Elementary gym. This is a fundraiser for our club.
