Lady Horns prep for season with scrimmage

Last Friday the girls had a scrimmage to get things a little more in check for this season opener. “Like every other coach there were things about the scrimmage that I really liked and things that showed we need to work on.” Said Head Coach Jeri Ferguson.

Looking forward to this season, coach is looking for strong competition for positions at every level, freshman, JV and varsity. “There are many close races for different positions, but that also means we have a lot of different ways we can place young ladies on the floor.”

The girls have been practicing for three weeks now and they are ready to be able to play someone other than each other, and Ferguson is, of course, like her team, excited for the upcoming game tomorrow, Friday, the first. “Bridgeport is always a competitive game and so we are ready to get going.”

For the Lady Longhorns to stay consistent throughout the season Coach Ferguson added that serving needs to get better, “That is where everything starts for being able to be aggressive offensively so this is an area we need to improve and be consistent at.”

Kimball Volleyball action is set to get started today, Thursday, August 31. Kimball will be welcoming Bridgeport into town with the freshman game starting at 4 p.m.
