It took a 4 hole, score card playoff, to determine the winner of this year’s TeamMates 4 person scramble held at the Four Winds Golf Course this past Saturday. The team of Chuck Christensen, Jeff Greenwood, Jordan Greenwood, Landon Smith won out over the team of Chad Wise, Dillon Wise, Payton Wise, Bill Wallace with both teams shooting 56! The third place team of Colton Daum, Jake Daum, Henry Heeg Jr., Anthony Osborne was just one stroke back with their round of 57, and the fourth place team of Zane Anthony, Izaac Reuter, Andrew McCloud, Kole Brush was right in the hunt with their round of 58. These outstanding scores were helped perhaps by mulligans each team were able to use.

It was a good turnout once again with 16 teams entered and organizer Stephanie Kitchens was pleased with the field of golfers and with the great day weather wise. The prizes the golfers were battling for were also outstanding with the winners selecting the four tickets to the Nebraska vs. Rutgers football game, second place got four Bronco tickets, third place $200 in Chamber Bucks, and fourth place $200 Pro Shop Bucks.

A big thank you to all golfers who played and to the good folks who provided the prizes. The funds raised will be used to support the local chapter of TeamMates, a very worth while project for certain.

Next event coming up at the Four Winds is a 2-person Best ball event to be held on July 4. You pick you own tee times and play with your own group. Cost is just $5 along with cart rental and green fees if needed. Results will be posted on the following day, July 5. Open golf will also be going on so everyone needs to call the Pro Shop for tee times.

The Kimball Rec area was a busy place for certain this past weekend what with the TeamMates Golf Tournament, and the Andy Shaw Co-ed softball tournament, which was a two day, and night, event. Lots of out of town teams entered and they came with their campers and tents and enjoyed themselves.

Kenny Greenwood represented the golfing Greenwood family at the Morrill Open Tournament and finished runner-up in the championship flight with rounds of 80-75=155 over the two days. He broke away from the Greenwood pack to compete in an open golf event.

After golfing on the winning team in the TeamMates scramble, Jordan Greenwood was invited to play in a select event at the Kearney Meadowlark golf course on Monday and Tuesday. This tournament was for the top 15 golfers in all the classes, for this years’s graduated seniors. You might recall that Jordan finished in a tie for third at the State Tournament. After Monday’s play, Jordan was leading the field by four strokes shooting a round of 40-34=74!

Please Note Jordan Finished the tournament in Kearney at the Meadowlark Golf Course on top as Champion after shooting a 74 on Monday June 26, and also shooting another 74 on Tuesday, June 27.

My golfing partner, wife Karen and I, had a memorable golfing experience this past Sunday when I killed a rattle snake on the tee box of number one on the red tee box. We went off right about 12 noon and Karen was taking a few warm up swings before stepping up to address her ball when she said “Oh, there is a snake”. It was about three to four feet from her and I said “Yes, and it is a rattle snake, step away”. I made one of my best swings of the day with my driver to dispose of our nasty little intruder. With all of the people around the Rec area over the weekend and as close as he was to the Pro Shop area, thankfully no one was bitten. I also heard that Colton Daum killed yet another rattler out on hole number 13 area a week or two back.
