Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Local Legion scores first win

Things are starting to come together for Kimball’s Legion Baseball team. The young ball players hosted Hershland last Tuesday night, June 12, and won the sole game 11-3.

After getting off to a rough start this season Kimball was able to tighten up pitching and other issues they have been working hard on in practice.

This win came as a total team win. Everyone pitched in, in one way or another. Brady Kilgore hit three singles, and marked three stolen bases in the books. Nathaniel Mars added two singles, and two stolen bases while Cole Henton, singled three times and kicked in two stolen bases.

Javon Coyle added one single, one double and one stolen base and teammate Colton Mielke also put two singles as well as a double in the books. Brendan Walker hit one single and grabbed two stolen bases, Justus Golding had two stolen bases and Ethan Bemis added a single.

Walker pitched all five innings and closed the game with three strikeouts.

Kimball was scheduled to battle Torrington last Thursday, June 15, but those games were postponed.

The young men will travel to Alliance on this afternoon, Thursday, June 22, to play a double header at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Another long trip is set for this weekend as the team travels to Chadron for a tournament scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
