Beverly J. Hisey, 85, of Kimball, died at her home in Kimball on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Kimball Library. The services for Bev have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Beverly Jean Hisey was born in Norton, Kansas on June 6, 1931, the daughter of Howard and Dorothy (Drummond) Butler. She was raised in Norton and graduated from high school in 1949. Bev attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri. Following college, she returned to Norton as secretary at the high school. She was married to Alvin Hisey on November 24, 1950 and they set out for their great adventure together. They moved to Oberlin, Kansas in 1951 where they ran the Western Auto store and began raising a family. In 1959, they moved to Kimball and began farming and ranching south of Kimball. She ran the More-Value Stamp store for several years while continuing to help on the farm . Bev then realized her dream and passion for fashion and purchased the Cottage Shop in 1972, later adding an additional store in Alliance in 1979. Throughout these years running the businesses, marketing & keeping up with the farm activities, 4-H and numerous organizations, she was a very busy lady. Bev retired in 2000, selling the stores and ending the legacy of her apparel businesses. Al preceded her in death in 2001. Bev and John Thacker became partners in life in 2002, and she spent 14 joyful years with him. She loved gardening, fishing and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed music and was a wonderful pianist. Bev will best be remembered for her positive attitude, never-ending energy, and kind heart.

Survivors include her life partner John Thacker of Kimball, NE; son Rick Hisey (Catie Radloff) of Kimball, NE., Greg (Melody) Hisey of Maple Creek, Sask, CA., Mike Hisey of Kimball, NE; daughter Trish (Dave) Lukassen of Kimball, NE; grandchildren Shelli (Ben) Friesen and their children Delaney and Hadley, Sean Hisey (Schuyler Tutt)., Calli Hisey, Ardell Hisey (Sara) and their child Austin, Pake Newell (Derek Stott), Taren (Ryan) Hendricks and their children Carter, Avery and Reese; brother Jerry (Lena) Butler of St. Francis, KS; sister Marlyn (Hank) Evers of McKinney, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Although John's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were actual stepchildren, Bev considered them as her own. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Alvin.
