The Kimball junior high girls won the Potter-Dix junior high track meet, held on Wednesday, April 12, at the Kimball High School.
The Kimball girls won the meet with a whopping 183 points, 71 points ahead of the closest competition, Leyton with 112. Pine Bluffs girls took third with 92, Minatare had 91, Potter-Dix 52 and Banner County 41.
Samantha Bemis brought in 30 points independently. Her individual events consisted of the 200 meter where she ran at a time of 29.29, 100 meter with a run of 13.58, and triple jump with a length of 30'10". Her 4x100 relay group gathered a total of 10 points with their first place finish of 1:00.25.
In the 100 meter, following Samantha Bemis, Megan Spicer placed fourth with 14.71 on the watch, and Tianna Stierwalt placed fifth. Payton Wise stole third in the 200 meter with 31.54 seconds, and behind her with a time of 32.41 was Raven Johnson in fourth.
Johnson and Stierwalt traded places when they competed in the 400 meter, with Johnson taking third and Stierwalt earning fifth.
Reese Spradling and Brandi Councilman made it onto the board during the 800 meter with Spradling earning fourth and Councilman taking home fifth.
Caelyn Long ran the mile in 6:54.34 for a second place finish earning 8 points for the young Lady Horns. Madison Merryfield followed Long closely with her fifth place finish in 7:18.30. Kimball had just one athlete, Megan Spicer, in the 100 meter hurdles, and she earned fifth place in 19.14. Chantel Malson captured third in the 200 meter hurdles with the time of 36.37 on the watch. Malson also collected the second place medal in High Jump with a height of 3'10" and Sydney Bieseker right behind in fifth.
Johnson led the pole vault with a winning vault of 6'6" followed by Melai Casimiro in fourth and Malson in fifth, both with vaults of 5'6".
Payton Wise took home the fifth place medal for Long Jump with a leap of 12'7".
Spicer came in a close second to Bemis with her triple jump of 29' 9 1/2".
Emma Martin, who took first in discus with a drive of 72'2", earned her second place shot put finish with a thrust of 25'9". She was followed by Sarinda Bateman in third with a throw of 23'7" and Amy Birkhofer received fifth for a push of 22'6".
Kimball girl's 4x400 meter relay gained 6 points with a third place finish and finally their Weightman's relay earned fourth with a time of 1:10.89.
The Kimball Boys Junior High Track team placed second with a colossal score of 127 points, behind the talented Leyton team, in first with 184 points.
Ethan Ratzlaff brought in 38 points singly with a first place finishes in the 400 meters with a dash of 1:03.60, the high jump with a leap of 5'0" and the pole vault with a vault of 9'0". Ratzlaff accepted second in long jump with a distance of 17'2".
Following Ratzlaff in the 400 was teammate Christian Allen-VanPelt in second place at 1:04.57 and Kaleb Prather in sixth with a time of 1:10.33.
Allen-VanPelt earned third place finishes in long jump with a stretch of 17'1" and triple jump with a leap of 32'1 1/2".
Thomas Muldoon finished third in the 800 meter at 2:47.47 and the 1600 meter with 6:09.22 on the watch.
Connor Cluff ran the 800 with a time of 2:57.63 for sixth place and took home fourth in the 1600 with a time of 6:14.48.
Connor Glanz brought in third in the 110 meter Hurdles at a speed of 22.20 and earned sixth place medals in the 200 meter Hurdles and in the pole vault.
Cole Henton finished in fourth place in the pole vault with a vault of 6'6" and Braden Crossman earned a third place finish in the 200 meter with a sprint of 30.17.
Kyle Evans placed fifth in the shot put for the Longhorns with a thrust of 32'0".
Kimball boy's 4x100 meter Relay team placed sixth with a time of 1:04.32, the 4x400 meter relay took third with a time of 5:11.64 and the Weightman's Relay brought in 10 points and took first in 1:06.45.
