Wildcats battle hard, fall during season openers

The Banner County Lady Wildcats hosted the Garden County Eagles on Friday, Dec. 2 for a close match-up resulting in a 29-34 loss.

Leading the charge against the Eagles was Banner County’s MaKenna Dahlgrin who netted six field goals and one from the line for a total of 13 points.

Defensively, Dahlgrin pulled in the most rebounds as well, with seven offensive and seven defensive grabs for a total of 14, for her first double double of the season and she grabbed five steals.

Sophomore Jadyn Cross followed closely, putting nine on the Wildcat board with one from the line and four field goals. Cross also grabbed eight rebounds and had three assists.

Courtney Knisley added six to the Wildcat score, snatched six rebounds and five steals.

Emily Singleton scored one from the line pulled in three rebounds, had one assist and one steal.

Savannah Jordan rebounded three, got two assists, and three steals while freshman Rylie Mason pulled in on rebound, and one steal.

Despite an active game the Banner County girls were unable to pull off a win against the Eagles. The Lady Cats traveled to Minatare on Tuesday, Dec. 6 to battle the Indians, who lost their first game of the season to South Platte 45-27. They will host Bayard on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The Banner County boys traveled to Oshkosh to open their basketball season with a 58-43 loss against the Eagles.

No statistics were available for the Wildcats at press time. The Banner County boys played the Minatare Indians on Tuesday, Dec. 6 in Minatare, with no stats available at press time.

The next chance to catch Wildcat action with be on Saturday, Dec. 10 in Grover Colo., as the Banner County boys battle for a win against the Pawnee Coyotes.
