Walkers and runners lapped the Gotte Park in Kimball for the Autism Speaks-Light it up Blue campaign in support of the Brent Klassen family. More than 75 people attended on Saturday, April 2, and walked more than 250 miles. Please see page A8 for more information and photos.

The Light it up Blue Autism Awareness Run/Walk was Saturday April 2 at Gotte Park in Kimball.

Some of the biggest misunderstandings come from lack of awareness about Autism and we hope to change that.

1. Myth: People with autism don't want friends.

Truth: If someone in your class has autism, they probably struggle with social skills, which may make it difficult to interact with peers. They might seem shy or unfriendly, but that's just because he or she is unable communicate their desire for relationships the same way you do.
