Summer school sessions set locally

Area schools have planned summer school for the coming year.

While Banner County Schools do not have summer programs or summer school planned, both Kimball and Potter-Dix have planned summer school.

Potter-Dix classes will be held for two weeks in June, one in July and one in August on weekday mornings.

These summer classes are based on teacher recommendation and are for grades Kindergarten through sixth, according to outgoing superintendent Kevin Thomas.

Kimball Public Schools will have a “Jump Start” math camp for kindergarten through fifth grade July 20-24 and a “Jump Start” reading camp for the same age group July 27-31. All classes will be held 8 a.m. to noon.

Students in the sixth through eighth grades can attend their camps on those days, at the same time as well, but the camps will be held separately.

Credit recovery classes for high school students will be June 1 through June 5 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to Jamie Soper, Special Services Director at Kimball Public Schools.

For more information regarding any of these classes, call the schools. Potter-Dix Elementary can be reached at 308-682-5226. The Kimball Public Schools Superintendent’s office can be reached at 308-235-2188.
