Mary Louise Caldwell


Mary Louise (Innis) Caldwell, 89, of Grand Island, formerly of Kimball, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Service was 11:00 a.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home with Dan Naranjo officiating. Burial was in Kimball Cemetery, Kimball, NE.

Mary Louise was born November 8, 1924 to John and Phoebe (Reed) Innis at Fort Supply, OK.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Whitaker of Grand Island and Phoebe (Frank) Hellyer of Bullhead City, AZ; and brothers, Roy Dean (Bertha) Innis of Enid, OK and Robert Innis of Ponca City, OK.

Those also left to cherish her memory include four grandchildren, Valorie (Jack) Petska, Lori Bendixen, Deena (Jeff) Schmidt and Randy (Daisy) Wilke; six great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and longtime friends, Dennis and Linda Exum of Kimball.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anson L. Caldwell on March 1, 1990; a daughter, Connie Louise Caldwell; and two brothers, James Innis and William Innis.

Mary grew up and attended school at Fort Supply. She was a member of the High School's first women's basketball team.

She was united in marriage to Anson L. Caldwell on February 9, 1941 in Fort Supply. The couple spent a short time in Bisbee, AZ, then Mooreland, OK , where Mary helped her husband with farming and ranching. They moved their family to Kimball, NE in 1955. Mary was employed by American National Bank for 25 years, retiring in 1986.

While living in Kimball, Mary was a member of the Eagles. She loved to bowl, and at one time was a member of two bowling teams. Her southern upbringing never left her, she was a beautiful 'lady' inside and out. Devoted to her family, Mary cherished her grands, great-grands and great great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
